Welcome to the Suffolk Seaboard Station Railroad Museum, where history meets horticulture. Installed by the Suffolk Master Gardeners on October 12, 2019, this floral masterpiece brings to life the nostalgic charm of yesteryears when roses adorned the station’s grounds. Inspired by the community’s longing for a garden reminiscent of days gone by, our team embarked on this endeavor to enrich the museum’s surroundings and provide a sanctuary for both visitors and nature enthusiasts alike.
Led by Master Gardeners Joyce Dugan, Karen Scott, and Wanda Gerard, the garden’s inception was a collaborative effort involving volunteers and local officials. From selecting the perfect plant varieties to meticulously crafting the 32-by-4-foot raised bed, every detail was carefully curated to ensure a vibrant and educational experience for all. As stewards of the land, we invite you to explore this botanical haven, where the beauty of roses intertwines with the rich tapestry of Suffolk’s history, sparking conversations, fostering new friendships, and inspiring a love for gardening that transcends generations. Join us as we celebrate the timeless allure of roses and the enduring spirit of community at the Suffolk Seaboard Station Railroad Museum.
